Festival Information

Weather

This is an all-weather event and will go ahead unless it’s not safe to proceed. If in doubt, check back this website and social media for updates.

What to bring & who to leave at home

Wrap up warmly and wear sturdy footwear. The event is free, but there are lots of tasty treats for sale and donations are accepted via EFTPOS and cash. Please leave dogs at home (except service dogs).

How to see everything

There are installations around and inside the Cathedral, Selwyn Place,  and NMIT. There’s no set walking route, just wander as you please. Note that only Selwyn Place is (partially) closed, so be aware of traffic when crossing the roads.

Parking & toilets

All the major carparks are open. All public toilets are open – at Montgomery and Buxton carparks, as well as Selwyn Place and the Cathedral Gardens.

Food & drink

There will be food stalls in Selwyn Place.  Plus, many of restaurants and bars will be open.

Kids & crowds

Please keep an eye on your tamariki. Around the Cathedral, watch out for slippery paths, cables on the ground, and delicate artworks. Take your time, and if you can, come along on multiple nights.

Info hub

Our Info Hub is located on upper Trafalgar Street, right by the stage – come and see us for help, first aid, lost children, or just some information on the event. And our amazing volunteers will be around the festival site and will be able to help you.
