Artwork Info

This year Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) Design and Arts students are shining their own creativity on Bayleys Te Ramaroa, thanks to the vision of tutors Stefan Hanspach and Klaasz Breukel. With an open brief around the theme of light, students have interpreted and created their own art/design project installation and illuminated objects for display as part of the light festival. The use of light, shadow and reflection, utilising sustainable materials and practical construction techniques for the public exhibition during the event is part of the overall concept.

Complementing the students works is two pieces from NMIT tutor Stafan Hanspach. Night Invaders - Lightboxes of nostalgic 8-bit memories and Signals - Light Objects referencing the quiet language of beacons, navigation markers and directions.
