A Word From Our Chair

Experience the magic that transforms Nelson in the heart of winter.

Words from Annette Milligan...

We're at that stage where the excitement is really ramping up with only 2 weeks to go until Bayleys Te Ramaroa 2026 kicks off. It has taken three solid years to get to this point and the race is on to the festival opening and I am so, so proud of everyone who has helped to get us to this point.

It takes a whole community to make these things happen: the festival team, especially the Director, Michaela Blackman who has put in countless hours. The fund-raising team, the comms team, the volunteers, the lovely Luminaries who donate for every festival, the many wonderful Nelson businesses and community grant funders who reach deep into their pockets in these tough times with financial support and in-kind donations, and of course our core funders Nelson City Council and Bayleys.

Bayleys Te Ramaroa 2026 is about to light up our city because of this massive ongoing cumulative effort and now it is the turn of the wider community - get together with your friends and family and plan a visit to the action in the Upper Trafalgar St - Cathedral area and the installations at NMIT from the students. There will be music, food and a buzz which brings magic to Nelson in the middle of winter. Bayleys Te Ramaroa - we're nearly on!
